The technology

The website is running on a VPS server with a 64-bit quad-core CPU and 256MB (which surprisingly, is enough provided one optimises Apache for low-memory usage). We are using Slicehost as our VPS hosting company, and they have done an excellent job to date. The mail handling for botmanfamily.net is managed by Google with their Google Apps.

Apache is used to serve traffic on port 80 for botmanfamily.net and botmanfamily.eu. Technologies used to render pages are: Perl, server-side includes (SSI), and cascading style sheets (CSS).

All our server services are enabled with the Prasi system. Prasi is a piece of software which allows various "services" to use a common login system and data sharing (once you've logged in, all the services instantly know who you are). It can be likened to a home-grown MS-Passport clone. More information is available at the Prasi homepage.

Your privacy

We collect and store data about visitors to this site, including the pages you browse, the links you decide to follow, the browser you are using, where you have reached this site from, and more. Such data is broadcasted by your browser and hence is considered public. We use Google Analytics to collect and analyse the data. We do not release this data to persons not connected with botmanfamily.net in non-aggregate or in personally-identifyable form.
